Knowing You Matter Screening is a Stunning Success

On the 28th of June, The Hailsham Pavilion Theatre played host to the first screening of the ground breaking new film 'Knowing You Matter'. We were joined by local older people, friends from voluntary sector groups and policy and decision makers. Many of the audience were visibly moved at the end of the film as the shared experiences of the older people who bravely took part in the film struck a chord and resonated with so many common experiences of fear and loss of identity as older people move in to a care home. The film paid particular attention to the issues for people with dementia and their families and we were delighted that David Sheard of Dementia Care Matters, who took part in the film, was able to join us at the launch and to take part in both a question and answer session after the film and a workshop in which we considered the question:-

How do we show people that they matter?

The film will be used across the care sector in East Sussex to invite a deep change of culture where compassion and kindness are placed at the heart of the caring relationship. Please contact us to enquire about booking a screening of the film in your area - we would be delighted to share it with you and people you know who care deeply about the lives of older people.
