"Solidarity captures two related factors: community and purpose, meaning we're all in this together."
Richard Reeves and John Knell, The 80 Minute MBA
We work in ways which build Solidarity. We use the term Solidarity to describe an equal, respectful relationship in which people stand alongside each other.
The relationships we often witness are unequal and devaluing as workers may be cold (ignoring and talking over), authoritarian (directing and talking at) or overprotective (smothering and talking down to). The people we work with and teach tell us that this framework enables them to see their role and their relationships in a new light. We see the Solidarity posture as central to people getting seen and heard and living life on their own terms.
Go to the gentle teaching website (www.gentleteaching.com) to find out more about the roots of the work on Solidarity in the context of creating valuing relationships.
